How to Fix “An Error Occurred During Pricing of a Detail Line Item” Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Sales Error
A simple fix for a common pricing error
This week in Microsoft Dynamics Support, I will show you how to fix a common pricing error in Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Sales CRM.
Sometimes, when you open an order, there’s an error saying, “The following error occurred. An error occurred during pricing of a detail line item.”
The error may not always make a lot of sense, but fortunately fixing it is not hard.
See below for video and instructions:
How to find and fix “An Error Occurred During Pricing of a Detail Line Item” Dynamics 365 for Sales error
When you open an order and see an error saying, “The following error occurred. An error occurred during pricing of a detail line item,” it is talking about a line item.
In this case, we have only one line item: Labels. So we know which one is causing the error. But you may have several line items in one order. In that case, you’ll have to open each one to find which item is causing the error.
If we open the Labels line item, we see the same error is displayed there, which means this particular line item is causing the problem.
After you figure out which products are causing this error, you will need to do the following for each:
1.) Go to Sales > Products.
2.) Pick the product from the list.
If you scroll down to just above Additional Details on the Product record, you will see a warning that says, “Warning: A default price list has not been set.” This is often the reason why you got the error in that order.
You need to add this particular product to a price list.
3.) Go to Additional Details > Price List Items and click Add Price List (the + symbol above the right edge of the Price List Items table).
4.) The first field you will see under General is Price List. Choose a price list from the drop down menu.
5.) Set the cost of your product under Pricing > Amount.
6.) Click Save and Close.
7.) Check your order under Sales > Recent > Order.
As you can see, the error has disappeared from our order.
