How to Enable Editable Grids in Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Sales CRM

by | Mar 1, 2018 | Microsoft Dynamics 365

Update CRM records on the fly

This week in Microsoft Dynamics SupportI will show you how to enable editable grids in Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Sales CRM.

With editable grids, you can update records on the fly. In this case, you’ll be able to estimate revenue or change the account or the contact name, rather than going all the way into the account and making the changes there.

See below for video and instructions:

Enable editable grids

NOTE: You will need global administrator credentials to enable editable grids.

1.) Start from a list view for the entity you want to enable editable grids in.

In my example, I am enabling editable grids for Opportunities, so I am starting from Sales > Opportunities > My Open Opportunities.

2.) Click on […] More Commands > Customize Entity.

3.) Click on the Controls tab.

4.) Choose Add Control.

5.) Highlight Editable Grid and click Add.

You should now see both Read-only Grid and Editable Grid under Control, with radio buttons for three interfaces: Web, Phone, and Tablet.

6.) Choose which interfaces you want to use read-only grids, and which interfaces you want to use editable grids.

Now in this example, I want to use editable grids just for the web interface, but you can also do it for the phone and the tablet interface as well.

7.) Click Save, then Publish.

Once the changes have been published, you can leave this screen.

Once you refresh the opportunities screen, you can see that all the highlighted links are gone. Now you can actually go in and change the details of each record on the fly!
