This week in Dynamics 365 CRM Support, we’ll learn how to set the default visibility of a field in Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Sales CRM.

Many Dynamics 365 users customize their views to fit their needs. In some scenarios, you may need to hide certain fields. This video will show you how to make those fields invisible by default.

See below for video and instructions:

1.) Open a record in the entity you would like to change.

In this example, I have opened up a test opportunity.

2.) Click Form to open up the form screen.

In this example, I’m going to set the default visibility of the Purchase Time field so that it is invisible by default.

3.) Highlight the field you want to change, then click Change Properties.

This will open in a new window. In the Display tab, one of the sections is Visibility. From here, you will see a checkbox that lets you set the default visibility of fields.

4.) Uncheck Visible by default and click OK.

You can always undo this later by checking the box again.

5.) Click Save and Publish, then close.

After you complete these steps, you can go back to the record to make sure the changes have taken place. As you can see in my example, the Purchase Time field is no longer visible when I launch my test opportunity.
