How to Fix Error Inserting Email Signature in Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Sales CRM

by | Jun 21, 2018 | Microsoft Dynamics 365

Legacy rendering is often the problem

This week in Microsoft Dynamics Support, we’ll be looking at how to insert an email signature and how to fix a common email signature error in Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Sales CRM.

To fix the error, you will need to turn Legacy rendering off.

Legacy rendering is required if you use Legacy scripts, like all the Java script functions. If you need those functions to work on a new version, you need to have Legacy scripts turned on. But as you will see, turning Legacy scripts on also breaks some new functionalities.

See below for video and instructions on how to fix this email signature error in Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Sales CRM:

Insert an email signature in Microsoft Dynamics 365

1.) Click the New (+) button, then click Email.

2.) Click Insert Signature > [signature name] > Select to insert your chosen signature.

2a.) When you click Select, you may see the following error: An error has occurred. Please return to the home page and try again.

An error has occurred. Please return to the home page and try again.

This error is usually the result of a system settings error within Dynamics 365. To fix the error, follow these steps:

1.) Go to Settings > System > Administration > System Settings.

2.) Scroll down to Use legacy form rendering and select No.

3.) Click OK, then refresh your screen by hitting F5.

You may need to refresh a couple of times.

4.) Go back into your New Email screen and try inserting a signature again. It should work just fine now.
