What to Do When the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Mailbox Fails with Status ‘Failed’ While Enabling a Mailbox for Server Side Synchronization

 

What should you do when your Dynamics CRM Mailbox fails for all incoming, outgoing, and appointment/task/contact synchronizations when attempting to enable the mailbox for synching?

If you check in alerts, the error will say the mailbox is not approved. But, your CRM administrator has clicked on the approve button just before enabling the mailbox.

This issue usually happens because the CRM administrator is not a global administrator in Office 365.

To correct the “Mailbox Fails” error, an Office 365 global administrator must approve this mailbox within CRM and then ‘test and enable’ will complete successfully for the mailbox in question.
